Is my switchboard actually unsafe, or is it fine?
If it's older than about 40 years, has ceramic fuses instead of breakers, or trips for no obvious reason, it's worth a look. We'll come out, check it over, and tell you honestly whether it needs upgrading or it's fine for now. No scare tactics.
What's an RCD and do I need one?
An RCD is a device that cuts power in a fraction of a second when it detects a fault, like something touching a live wire. New builds have to have them. Older homes usually don't. It's the single biggest safety upgrade you can make on an old board.
How long is the power off for?
Most standard board swaps have the power off from mid-morning until late afternoon. We stage the work to keep it short. Bigger jobs or tricky wiring can go longer, but you'll know exactly at quote.
Do I get certification?
Yes. Every install gets a Certificate of Compliance issued and emailed same day. It's what your insurer, your landlord, or the buyer's solicitor will ask for down the track.
