Can your switchboard even handle a charger? Most people don't know.
The charging problem
- An EV is one of the biggest continuous loads you'll ever put on a home circuit.
- Run it off the three-pin plug in the garage and it charges slow, and puts heat through wiring that was never meant for it.
- A board that was never sized for a car.
- A cheap install you're arguing about when the warranty question comes up.
The right answer is a proper wall charger on its own circuit. But that only works if the board can take it. We check that first, so there's no nasty surprise halfway through.
So the quote covers the whole job: charger, circuit, and any board work. One price, tested and signed off properly.
Board checked before we quote.

What everyone asks before they buy an EV.
Can my switchboard handle an EV charger?
That's the first thing we check. Some boards take it fine, some need an upgrade to run a charger safely. We check before we quote, so you know the full job up front instead of finding out halfway through.
Can you do the board and the charger in one visit?
Yes, that's how we prefer to do it. One booking, one day off power, one lot of paperwork. Cheaper than splitting the job across two visits.
I might get solar later. Should I wait?
No need to wait. We install the charger and set up the wiring so solar can be added later without ripping anything out. Ask about the solar plan at quote time and we'll spec both together if it makes sense.
